Spartans

Hello Lacrosse families!

We hope you are doing well and looking forward to the upcoming season!

Sign up for the 2020 Spartans program.  Whether you are already a field lacrosse player or a box player looking to get into the field action you are invited to sign up and attend Spartans tryouts for our fall travel program. This year's tryouts will be held Sunday, May 10 following the Saskatoon Field Festival and Monday, May 18 (exact times and locations to follow).

New for this year's program is the 17U Spartans Varsity team. With the success of last year's 16U and 14U teams in Minneapolis, we have been invited to move up to the Great Pumpkin Shootout Travel Team Tournament OCT 24-25, 2020 and in order to compete in the age categories for that tournament we are upping the age limit to 17 and Under (this team is open to players graduating in 2021 2022 2023). This tournament IS a college-scouted tournament. The tournament our 14U team attends (if strong enough we will attend the Great Pumpkin Shootout travel tournament if not we will return to the Great Pumpkin Shootout association tournament)  will depend on the quality of player available, with the advent of Sentinels JV we are unsure of the impact this will have on our 14U team at this point.

For our 14U team, age restrictions do exist; players must be born after March 1, 2006, with some restrictions applying to players born between March 1 and August 31, 2006. *Players born in Jan-Feb of 2006 are still encouraged to try out for the 14U program however special exemptions will be required from the tournament organizer for the player to play should they be selected by the team.

The cost estimate per player is $1,750. The season runs from August 1 to the end of October. As with last year,  practices will run on weekends working around the Team Sask schedule.

Team fundraising is an option with that in mind there is a possibility of hosting a travel tournament in late September in Saskatoon featuring teams from Alberta, Manitoba, and the USA. Teams are being contacted already to gauge the interest and ability for this to work.

Also, we are exploring the option of attending a fall tournament in Alberta (there would be added cost for this tourney).

Thank you all and we will see you at the fields soon.
